SCFD RESPONDS TO SMITHFIELD HOUSE FIRE
On Sunday, May 3rd, 2020 at approximately 1:36p.m., the SCFD was dispatched with the Smithfield Volunteer Fire Department for a report of a house on fire in the 200blk of Hill Street in Smithfield. Units arrived on the scene to find a single family home well involved in fire. An aggressive interior attack was initiated and all fire was extinguished. In addition to Short Creek and Smithfield VFD, assistance was provided by Brilliant, New Alexandria, Rayland, Mt Pleasant, Unionport, and Dillonvale Volunteer Fire Departments. Due to water supply concerns with low output fire hydrants, the alarm was sounded for Tanker Task Force to respond to assist with shuttling water, if needed. The SCFD responded promptly with 13 members and operated on scene for roughly three and a half hours. The Ohio State Fire Marshal will be conducting an investigation to determine a cause of the fire. There were no injuries.
